Hi there, I’m Rodrigo Kimelblat, the founder of The Potters Shed, and I’m so excited to welcome you to my creative space!

I’ve always had a deep love for creativity and craftsmanship, and my journey with pottery began 5 years ago when I first got my hands into clay. What started as a passion for creating functional pieces quickly evolved into a lifelong obsession with exploring the endless possibilities of working with this amazing material. The texture, the transformation of clay from lump to masterpiece—it truly feels like magic every time I sit at the wheel.

Before diving into the world of pottery, I had a background in marketing and music, which taught me the power of community and the importance of following your passion. Combining my love for creativity with a desire to build something meaningful, I founded The Potters Shed in Adelaide with a simple mission: to share my love of pottery with others and create a space where people can explore their artistic side in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

The Potters Shed has since grown into a community where people of all skill levels can come together, learn new techniques, and create pieces they can be proud of. Whether it’s wheel throwing or hand-building, I’m here to guide you through every step of the pottery process—from shaping your first bowl to trimming and glazing your final masterpiece.

Scheduling Information

Is a 4-week course, classes take place once a week. You can choose any convenient day from Monday to Thursday. The class duration is 2 hours, starting from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. All classes & workshops are at our studio in Adelaide.

Course Content

In the 4-week course, you will embark on a journey to learn the basics of pottery, including throwing pots on the wheel, trimming, and glazing. Each week focuses on a different aspect of the ceramic process, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. By the end of the course, you'll have created up to 4 unique pieces to be proud of.

Location

Classes are held at our Adelaide pottery studio located at 34 Tapleys Hill Rd - Royal Park. It's a cozy and creative space where you'll immerse yourself in the world of pottery.

Class Preparation

To make the most of your pottery class, remember to bring an old towel with you. Additionally, we kindly request that you trim your nails before attending class, as longer nails can make the pottery process more challenging.

Booking and Pricing

To secure your spot in the course, a $50.00 deposit is required in advance. The remaining balance of $220.00 (INCLUDING GST) will be due on the first day of class, bringing the total investment to $270.00 INCluding GST
We offer special discounts for group bookings, with reduced rates as follows: 2 people - $265.00, 3 people - $260.00, 4-8 people - $255.00.

Cancellation Policy

If, for any reason, you need to cancel your enrolment, please provide us with at least 10 days' notice before the start of the course So you can reschedule your classes to another day/month.

We understand that unexpected situations may arise, so please be aware that catch-up classes may not always be available due to limited space. However, rescheduling options for one-on-one classes can be arranged for an additional fee of $70.00 per class.

I’m Rodrigo Kimelblat, a 30-year-old potter from Brazil and the founder of The Potters Shed.

With a background in Marketing and Music, I’ve always been drawn to the creative side of life. At our studio, we connect with clay through inspiring music, teaching you the entire ceramic process from start to finish. I’m excited to be your instructor, guiding you in crafting amazing creations.

I’m supported by my talented friend, Gabriel (@gabe_pottery), who helps with studio improvements and maintenance. Join us at The Potters Shed for an unforgettable ceramic experience. Let’s shape and create together!

What is the Booking Fee?

In most of our courses, we charge a booking fee to lock in your spot in the class and the remaining amount has to be paid on the first day of the class, via bank transfer, cash or card.

One Day Workshop – $50 booking fee + $75 paid on the day
4-week Course – $50 booking fee + $220 paid on the day
8-week course – $100 booking fee + $330 paid on the day.
Hug Vase – Full amount paid on the website.
Hand Building Courses – Full amount paid on the website.

Do I need to bring anything for the class?

NO, We provide all the materials needed to make pottery, just bring an old towel and an apron if you present yourself.

What happens if I miss a class?

A catch-up lesson will be offered on another day with another group. If you are unable to attend on another day, a private lesson can be scheduled for a fee of $70.

I have never touched clay before, can I do the course?

Absolutely yes, the course is designed to suit all needs and levels. From beginners to intermediate/advanced students, we will have something new to show you and help you improve your ceramic skills.

Is there any age restriction?

Not really, but children should be concomitant by an adult.

I paid the course but I won’t be able to attend, what can I do?

First, you can try to offer it to a friend of yours and see if they want to take your spot, if that doesn’t work, if you give us 10 days notice before the class starts, you can reschedule your course for next month.

The booking fee in non refundable.

Where are you located?

We are located in 34 Tapleys Hill Rd – Royal Park.

What am I going to learn?

In the 4 week course, we will teach you all the steps from making ceramics, from clay to final product. Its going to be two days of throwing pots on the wheel, one day of trimming your pots and one day of glazing them.

How many pots can I make?

You can finish the course with up to 4 pots that you crafted from beginning to end.
